Who can best discuss writing other than a credible personality in journalism?

Mr. Joe Torres, presented a lecture about online writing. He started with a review of the basics of writing – the “ABCs” of writing. Participants reviewed techniques on how to effectively convey their ideas in written form while applying it online.

He shared that most people just scanned instead of read material from the internet because they are too busy and want to get the facts quickly. He suggested that the blog should be scannable for the reader to quickly find out what they searching in a short period of time. Moreover, he emphasized how blog writers must establish credibility.

To conclude, Mr. Torres emphasized that blog titles should be simple and should grab the readers’ attention.

Is it true that “great things come in small packages”? A petite person, but gifted with talents to adapt easily to the emerging world of social networking, Ms. Alexcenah Sta.Ines, iSchools staff, shared her expertise on social networking – the in thing in the internet community.

A five-minute video was shown that plainly explains the concept.

She offered the participants the historical overview of the sites that surface; from the very first form to the most popular sites nowadays. The four C’s benefits she emphasized in engaging into social networking are: Create, connect, collaborate, and communicate. MySpace, Twitter and Facebook are among the tools she shared to start building up connections.
